DOL: Gbewaa FC to play their Division One League matches in Yendi next season – Akunnor
One of the leading member of Yendi Gbewaa FC, Akunnor has revealed that plans are far ahead to make the Yendi Sports Stadium their new home ground once the project gets completed.
Akunnor was speaking in a telephone interview with host of Sankara Radio morning sports show Mohammed Nurudeen Sham-una on Friday 30th July, 2021.
According to the administrator, the club has filed a protest case against Paga Crocodiles for fielding an unqualified player in their final day 5-1 defeat to the Crocodiles which left them languishing at the bottom three.
“We are in Tamale because there is no better field for us to host our matches, but once the 5,000 seater Stadium currently under construction get completed, we shall be back to Yendi to play Infront of our loyal fans”
According to Akunnor, the club is very hopeful of winning the protest against Paga Crocodiles Stars, and that they are also picking up intelligence that the GFA wants to increase the clubs from 16 to 18 next season, which means Gbewaa could be reinstated not considering the outcome of the protest against Paga Crocodiles.
