Chelsea attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi has paid a courtesy call on the president of the republic H.E President Akuffo Addo today at the Jubilee House.

The Chelsea man has been in the country for about four days now, his mission is unclear but it is widely believed by many that he has come for a holiday as his parents are from the Ghana.

Just yesterday, he was at the Accra Sports Stadium to watch the game between Accra Great Olympics and Accra Hearts Of Oak which ended 1-1.
Fans of Hearts Of Oak even gave him a customized jersey of their beloved club..

And today 7th June,2021, he paid a courtesy call on President Akuffo Addo at the seat of government.
Speaking at the short ceremony, the president tasked the Minister for Youth and Sports to explore the possibility of having Callum Hudson-Odoi switch nationality, and play for Ghana.

Owing to his Ghanaian parentage, the 20-year-old, who has been snubbed for the upcoming Uefa European Championship, is eligible to play for the Ghana national team despite making three senior appearances for England where he was born.

His availability for a possible switch to Ghana despite being capped by The Three Lions is due to Fifa’s revised eligibility rules which came into force last year.

As per the new rules, the attacker is allowed to make a switch to the CK Akonnor-led Black Stars because he has not played more than three senior matches for England and all the games had come before he turned 21. Any possible application for a switch, though, can only be made after November 17 next year, provided his current international match appearance status has not changed.

Should he switch nationality for Ghana, it will boost Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
