The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a substantial increase in its investment for football development in the 2024-2025 fiscal year, marking a significant commitment to enhancing the sport across the continent.

One of the most notable changes is the doubling of the subvention provided to each member association. The funding has increased from $200,000 per member association in the 2020-2021 fiscal year to $400,000 for 2024-2025. This 100% increase aims to bolster grassroots programs, coaching, and infrastructure development within member associations.

Additionally, CAF has increased the financial support allocated to its zones by 50%. The subvention for each zone will rise from $500,000 in 2020-2021 to $750,000 in the upcoming fiscal year, reinforcing CAF’s commitment to regional development initiatives.

In a further move to support clubs, CAF is introducing a $50,000 allowance for teams eliminated in the preliminary stages of both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederations Cup. This initiative is designed to provide financial relief and encourage clubs to continue their development efforts, even after early exits from prestigious competitions.

These enhancements reflect CAF’s strategic focus on fostering football development across Africa, aiming to strengthen the sport’s foundation and improve competitiveness on both regional and global stages.
