Transfer News : Baba Rahman Extends Chelsea Contract, Joins Championship Side, Reading on Loan.
Black Stars full back, Baba Rahman, 27 has extended his contract with the current European Champions, Chelsea but moved to Championship side, Reading on a season long loan. The new contract with the blues will run until the summer of 2024. The flying left wing back will play for the championship side, Reading in the 2021/22 campaign.
Baba Rahaman joined Chelsea from German side, Augsburg in the summer of 2015. He made 23 appearances for Chelsea during his debut season at Stamford Bridge and did so well in the Champions League knockout round against PSG from France.
However, Baba was sent to Schalke 04 in the German Bundesliga where the defender featured prominently before a knee injury at the Africa Cup of Nations kept him sidelined for a year. Baba joined PAOK in Greece during last season’s winter transfer window where he made 17 appearances and scored one goal.
Baba Rahaman’s new club, Reading started the new season on a difficult note with three defeats from their opening four matches. They will be in action away at Huddersfield Town this weekend.
Baba has been an instrumental player for the Black Stars of Ghana and is part of CK Akonnor’s squad for the World Cup Qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia in September, 2021.
