Bofoakwa Tano Return To Ghana Premier League After 17-Years

Bofoakwa has returned to the Ghanaian top-flight football after beating Techiman Eleven Wonders FC on penalties on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.


The last season’s relegated club, Eleven Wonders toped the Division One Zone 1A while Tano Bofoakwa toped Zone 1B to qualify for the special playoff.

Bofoakwa Tano won 8-7 on penalties after a tough encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium against Eleven Wonders FC which ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes of play.


Leslie Aryeetey ignited Bofoakwa hopes after scoring an opener on the 6th minute of the game through a spot kick. A minute into the second half, Zakaria Osman equalized to give his side a respire.

The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes and remained same after extra even though both teams created several chances but none could be utilized.

It took Penalty shootouts to decide who join the Betpawa Premier League. Tano Bofoakwa won 7-8 over their Regional rivals Techiman Eleven Wonders.


Tano Bofoakwa got relegated Premier League football in the 2006/07 season. They finished 14th and since then have being playing in the Division One League.


Bofoakwa Tano has indeed returned to the Premier League after 17 years.
