ATHLETICS: Savannah Region Inter – District Cross Country Set for December 11
The maiden edition of Savannah Region Inter – District Cross Country Competition will be held on December 11, 2021 in Damongo, the regional capital
The competition shall have each district present six (6) athletes in both male and female categories to take part in the 10km marathon
The race which would start and end at the town park will take athletes through some principal streets of the capital to cover the distance
The competition is organized by the National Sports Authority, (NSA) in collaboration with the Savannah Regional Coordinating Council and the Savannah Region Athletics Association.
According to the organizers, individual and team winners shall receive cash prizes, trophies, and certificates as awards with some of them to be selected to represent the region at the national event in February next year at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region
Speaking on the event, President of the Savannah Region Athletics Association, Mr Sammed Zakaria, pledged the Association’s support for the competition and says it is long overdue and hope for the best
