ATHLETICS : 15yr Old Primary Five(5) Pupil Wins Savannah Region Inter District Cross Country Competition

Primary five(5) pupil of Dibouyiri D/A primary school from the Bole District won the maiden edition of the Savannah Region Inter District Cross Country Competition held in Damongo on Saturday, 11th December, 2021.

Mary Adu Antara completed the 10km race within the time of 37:09:01sec to emerged winner

Ruhia Abass of North East Gonja District was 2nd and Niyoyiri Dorkpeen also of Bole District came 3rd

Bole District became the OVERALL winners with 14 points in the female division.

S.T.K were 2nd, and North East Gonja placed 3rd overall

In the male division, veteran savannah region representative, Gmamoh Anthony of East Gonja, finished 1st with a time of 29:10:80sec

Iddrisu Salihu also of East Gonja finished 2nd and Mugis Marteen of North Gonja came 3rd in the male division

Overall, East Gonja were crown champions in the male division with 23 points

West Gonja Municipal and S.T.K . accumulated 41 and 59 points each to place 2nd and 3rd respectively

Awards were given to deserving athletes and districts

Athletes who emerged 1st in both divisions received a medal, certificate, and a trophy alongside an undisclosed amount of money

2nd and 3rd placed athletes also received medals, certificates, and some amount of money

Ten (10) athletes from each division were selected to represent the region in a national event in Akim Oda next year
