The senior national team, the Black Stars stretched their lead on the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification Group C log to 9 points after picking the three maximum points against Sudan on Thursday, 12th November, 2020 at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The Black Stars Skipper, Andre Ayew opened the scoring on the 19th minute from a fine free kick that beat the goalkeeper of Sudan. The Sudanese fought so hard to get the equalizer before the end of the first half of the match but to no avail.

The Swansea City deputy captain nearly made it two for CK Akonnor’s men but his goal was disallowed by the Senegalese Referees and a foul was awarded to the Sudanese.

On the 81st minute of the match, Andre Ayew finally got his second goal of the day to make it two for the Group C leaders. The match ended 2 0 in favour of Ghana.

However, the Black Stars of Ghana played the match without their key players such as Thomas Teye Partey, Mubarak Wakaso, Harrison Afful, Majeed Ashimeru, Gideon Mensah etc. But CK Akonnor hopes to get some of them back for the return league.

Ghana will travel to the capital town of Sudan, Khartoum on Tuesday, 17th November, 2020 for the return league encounter.

Meanwhile, the AFCON tournament was moved to 2022 as a result of COVID 19. Cameroon is set to host the AFCON tournament in 2022.
