3rd Edition of the Dasuma Radio Clan Tournament to kickstart on Friday, 24th December, 2021

Football is a global game and the most popular sports game in the world, it’s impact on society is immeasurable, it brings people together which promote peace in the society.


The Dasuma Radio Clan Tournament was initiated by Alhaji Baba Daney in 2019, a parliamentary candidate hopefully by then, the aim was to foster unity among the youth in the Yendi township and it’s surrounding communities through the game of football as it’s an embodiment of peace.


Due to this beautiful game called football, on 26 January, 1967 a 48 hour ceasefire was agreed between the two warring factions of Nigeria, the federal government and the state of Biafra, the reason for this ceasefire was to afford everyone a stable mind and freedom to go to the stadium to watch Legendary Brazilian Pele and his Santos team play a friendly football Match against the Nigeria National Team.


Football in this 21st century has brought so much peace among people, Nations and tribes, which is exactly Alhaji Baba Daney is currently doing in the Dagbon Capital.


About eight clans will take part in this year’s tournament namely; The Lunsi Clan, Laabansi Clan, Mohi Clan, Nakohinima Clan, Gonninima Clan, Wanzama Clan, Machelinima Clan and the Sapashinima Clan.


Alhaji Daney’s unflinching love for the people has him stick to his words of sponsoring the competition every year.


In it’s maiden edition in 2019 it was the Lunsi Clan that won the tournament, followed by the Laabansi Clan in 2020.
In all these two years the tournament have received a rousing welcome by all and ended in a successful manner.


There are so much expectations on the eight (8) clans this year not only to fight for the coveted trophy but also to instill love among each other which will protect and promote the peace Dagbon is currently enjoying.


The tournament also has an economic impact on the good people of Yendi, referee’s and match commissioner’s shall be paid for their services, also many businesses shall be the more beneficiaries of the tournament, those selling sachet water, biscuits, food and many other’s shall record abundant sales at the match venue.


The sole sponsor is Alhaji Baba Daney, whose presence in the municipality has been of good help to the people with his Owned Dasuma Radio station being the mouth peace for Yendi and it’s surrounding communities.

The opening game of the tournament shall be between reigning Champions the Laabansi Clan vrs the Mohi Clan at 4PM. Follow by the Gonninima vrs Sapashinima Clan at 7:30PM.

The newly constructed Yendi Astro Turf Park shall be the venue for the tournament. And all matches begins at 4pm and ends at 7:30pm.

The tournament as earlier stated will kickstart on December 24th and climax on December, 31st, 2021.
