2021 National Anti-Doping Education Campaign Organized in Tamale
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) in collaboration with the National Anti-Doping Committee and the Ghana Education Service (GES) have organized a one day Trainer of Trainees’ (TOT) programme for all PE Coordinators and Tutors, Sports Masters, and some Students from the Northern, North East, and Savannah regions as part of education campaign to promote drugs- free sports among the youth in Ghana
The program which was earlier scheduled to take place at the Tamale Senior High School took place at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale on Friday, 13th August, 2021
Participants were taken through the use of illicit drugs among the youth especially in sports and its implications
Trainers are expected to go back their institutions and schools to disseminate the information
They were also encouraged to form Anti – Doping clubs in the senior high schools to continue the gospel
Over eighty (80) participants took part in the training
Similar campaigns have been organized in the Upper West and East Regions
The theme for the 2021 National Anti -Doping Campaign is ‘focusing on drug – free sports among the youth’. Other mantras of the campaign are ‘Say No to Doping’,
‘Youth for Clean Sports’ among others
The World Anti-Doping Agency is a foundation initiated by the International Olympic Committee to promote, coordinate, and monitor the fight against drugs in sports
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and WADA have been partners in recent time in fighting the drug menace
