2021 Afcon: Morocco was lucky to beat Ghana – Milovan Rajevac
The senior national team, the Black Stars started the 2021 AFCON on a hard note in Cameroon, falling by 1-0 in the hands of Morocco. Though the Atlas Lions were seen by many as favorites to win the match based on their performance in the year 2021 (86% winning rate), others thought Black Stars could do better than they did.
The head coach of the side, Milovan Rajvac didn’t hide his feelings about the match and had this to say after the match:
“It was a tough match and we were expecting that because Morocco is one of the best teams on the continent and it was also the opening match of the group,” the 2010 Afcon final coach said after the game.
“We did not take our chances in the game and I think the Moroccans were lucky in the end. We were expecting the game to end in a draw.
“I want to congratulate the Moroccans on their win and my boys for fighting really hard. We have two matches left in the group so we have to concentrate on them so we can progress to the next stage.”
“Everything was going well, so there was no need to make a necessary changes because until the moment we conceded the goal, we had full control of the match“
Ghana takes on Gabon on January 14 in the second group game before facing Comoros in their final Group C tie. It is expected that, Black Stars come back strong to win that match against Gabon to keep their title hopes alive.
